VP, Product

You’ll run the team that owns our product vision, priorities, and roadmap. You’ll use your love of data to build products that answer important questions for some of the largest brands in the world. You’ll learn the details of our fast-changing industry, so that you know that our data aligns with how our clients think about the world. You want the product to be simple when it can be, powerful when it has to be, and dependable always. VP, Platform Partnerships

You will help Survata’s product succeed with our ecosystem of partners — publishers, DSPs, DMPs, other measurement companies, and more. No company in our world is an island, so you’ll help us build bridges to all relevant parties … whom you’ve already worked with for years. You love scaling startups, and get excited wearing many hats and owning multiple functions. You can effortlessly zig-zag between driving high-level strategy and tactical execution.

About the Role

  • Maintain great relationships with the partners that enable our product — DMPs, DSPs, viewability partners, TV data companies, etc. You know how to keep partners happy while still being a tough negotiator.
  • Establish a “certification” function to ensure our pixel is approved to run everywhere. You’ll know whom to call at every partner
  • Lead the team managing our publisher network, where we source survey respondents. You’ll think creatively about integrations & economics, while aggressively driving pub dev

Senior Backend Software Engineer

We’re bringing market research into the modern world. Data Engineer

Survata is a venture-funded startup that helps the world’s biggest brands make better business decisions. We measure consumer sentiment in real time by conducting online surveys through a network of publishers and mobile apps. Our Data Engineers build tools to unlock the full value of our data by building tools to deliver useful, actionable insights to our Fortune 100 clients.

You’ll work on and learn from (and hopefully teach!) a team that includes highly-accomplished statisticians and Python programmers who’ve contributed to popular open source packages like Django.

In this role, you’ll be expected to involve yourself in and improve the whole data lifecycle from the way surveys are created to the way statistical analysis is performed and presented. You’ll design and develop pipelines to make our analytical process more automated and more powerful. You’ll anticipate, investigate, and prevent any threats to the integrity of our data and results. You’ll think hard about testing and devise ways to keep our pipelines both flexible and correct. You’ll work directly with our data scientists to research, prototype, and implement new statistical methodologies that extend the repertoire of insights we can provide to our clients. You’ll build API’s using frameworks like Falcon to make data immediately available to other systems, and build pipelines using tools like AWS Batch to perform Causal and Statistical Inference on survey data. And you’ll work deeply with (and occasionally even extend) the core toolkit of the PyData ecosystem (i.e. NumPy, SciPy, pandas, scikit-learn etc.)

It’s not enough to throw data into a pipe and get plausible numbers out — you need to care whether the answers our system provides are actually true, and you shouldn’t rest until you feel fully confident that you can stand behind our results.

About You

  • You’re curious. You care about understanding the world around you and want to learn more about why it works the way it does. It bothers you deeply when the data in front of you doesn’t make sense
  • You like math (though you don’t need to be trained in it). The work involves statistics, but your statistical instinct matters more than your statistical knowledge. You’ll learn the specific statistical techniques we use on the job, but you’ll need to come in with a great feel for data and a desire and willingness to learn the mathematical underpinnings of our Statistical and Causal Inference methodology
  • You like solving real-world business problems. Our clients use our data to make their businesses more effective, and you’ll use your skills to make Survata more effective at satisfying our clients. You should be motivated by turning theoretical ideas into concrete tools and improvements
  • You have at least some experience managing large, dense datasets. You’re always looking for better tools to make data easier to work with
  • You’re careful, meticulous and diligent. You know that broken or incorrect data is worse than useless, and you’re disposed and equipped to build systems that are consistently reliable
  • You have experience at and enjoy working with tabular data in R or Python or both. Most of your work will be done in Python using the pandas framework, so you’ll need to be comfortable doing lots of Python (or at least excited to learn)

We’re bringing market research into the modern world.
